Woodland Choir is a small, merry band of singers who celebrate Spirit in song and aspire to both uplift and comfort our congregation. (We have heard that the sound we achieve makes you think there are twice as many of us!) We have a wide variation of levels of experience and ability in our ranks and although it helps to be able to read music, it's not a prerequisite to singing with us and welcome any newcomers with open arms. Our repertoire includes contemporary Christian music, classical music, American folk tunes, spirituals, and world music. If you decide to join us, we bet you'll have a great time and learn some things along the way! Woodland Choir will meet Sunday mornings 10:00-10:30 am prior to worship, unless otherwise announced.

For more information about the Woodland Choir, contact Joanna Manring at music@woodlandchristianlex.org.

From a range of different majors and years in school, the women of the Transylvania Singers sing up to four part harmony and meet twice a week in order to present three concerts a semester. They performed for Family Weekend at Transy, they are combining forces with the Pioneer Voices to present a Halloween concert October 30 at 7:00 pm (a first!), and they will be performing in a traditional Gift of the Holidays concert on December 11 at 7:30 pm.

The piece they will be singing in worship is call "Still I Rise," words and music by Rosephanye Powell, one of the foremost American educators and choral composers today. it is a celebration of the resilience of the spirits of women in particular, and provides an uplifting set of images and ideas buoyed by an irrepressible refrain that will have you clapping along with them. Don't miss it!
